简　　介

　　乔（劳伦斯·哈维 Laurence Harvey 饰）身世低微，为此，他一向感应很是自豪。可是，这样的乔却恰恰心上了大企业家的女儿苏珊（海瑟·西尔斯 Heather Sears 饰），身份的庞大悬殊令这段豪情一定得不到祝愿。为了阻止这段豪情，苏珊的父亲为苏珊放置了同她门当户对的成婚工具，乔为此感应万分屈辱。
美艳的女演员爱丽丝（西蒙·西涅莱 Simone Signoret 饰）出现在了乔的身旁，两人的关系慢慢亲近，可这任然没法填补乔心里的空虚。乔深知身份和职位的重要，为此，他重新回到了苏珊的身旁，希望可以借此挤入上流社会，终极，苏珊的父亲拗不外女儿的刚强，答应了这门亲事。惨遭抛弃的爱丽丝失了全数的希望，与一场意外中不幸身亡。
