　　此片是1979年《惊呼狂叫》（When A Stranger Calls）的续集，在第一集合，吉儿（卡洛·凯恩）一日在当保姆时，不竭接到希奇的电话，电话的另一端总是传来诡异的一句话：“你去观察过孩子了吗？”吉儿向警方求救，警方告诉她一个毛骨悚然的消息：这些奥秘电话都是从她的屋子中打出来的！当她去观察孩子们时，他们居然全都被谋杀了……
此续集则发生在五年后，吉儿在一所大学中担任心理教导员之职，昔时发生的惨事，仍深印在她心中。某日，大门生茱莉亚（Jill Schoelen）在当保姆时，发觉有人藏匿在她家中，她向警方乞助却徒劳无功，於是她转向大学教导教员吉儿求救，迫使吉儿又堕入昔时可骇的履历中。
