◎幕后揭秘
　　【不死灵感】
　　《不死劫》是M·奈特·沙马兰紧接《灵异第六感》以后创作和拍摄的电影，早在剪辑《灵异第六感》时，沙马兰就起头酝酿和构想《不死劫》。他回忆说：“《灵异第六感》的前期建造为期数月，而我现实在斟酌另一个故事。我发生了这样的想法：一个汉子成为了一场可怕火车变乱中的唯一幸存者，而且使人费解的毫发无损，他起头对自己的身份和生活的意图提出疑问。这个想法让我沉迷，我火烧眉毛的起头动笔。”
　　在沙马兰动手剧本初稿的同时，他还找来了《灵异第六感》的建造人巴里·门德尔(Barry Mendel)和山姆·莫瑟(Sam Mercer)配合准备新片的拍摄。门德尔说：“从《灵异第六感》拍摄达成那一刻起，我就发现奈特一向在疯狂的阅读关于列车撞车变乱的研讨材料和其他严重伤亡变乱的技术分析。不外他只说自己有了个新想法，对具体内容杜口不谈。他单独走开，然后完成了一个剧本，可以说这个故事完全出自他的想法。”
　　在正式动笔之前，沙马兰已经在脑海中勾画出全部故事，并希望与试金石影片公司合作，由布鲁斯·威利斯和塞缪尔·杰克逊主演，并在戴德节档期上映。沙马兰的思绪已经相当清楚，所以在创作剧本初稿时，故事的两位配角就是特地为威利斯和杰克逊而写，而那时他还不晓得两人能否愿意大概偶然候出演。在几周之内，沙马兰就完成了一份草稿，并起头询问威利斯和杰克逊能否愿意担纲。沙马兰回忆说：“我说这是为他们定制的，不外我只交接了初步想法，没流露细节，而他们俩都愿意加入。坦诚的讲，我并不清楚他们俩没看到剧本就决议加入的缘由，但电影也和人生命运一样，一切都是命里必定。”

　　塞缪尔·杰克逊对沙马兰及其剧本也有一种本能的信赖，他说：“很多年前我就看过《灵异第六感》的剧本，那剧本真是棒极了，我不但相信他的作品，而且还对布鲁斯的合作感受有所领会，所以我随时预备出演沙马兰的电影。”
　　在敲定两位主演以后，沙马兰继续用随后的数月时候完善剧本，与此同时，《灵异第六感》在天下影坛大放异彩，全球票房跨越了6亿美圆，批评界的赞誉接连不断。沙马兰对《不死劫》的创作越发兴奋，敏捷完成第六稿的他预备立即起头准备影片的拍摄。
　　在《灵异第六感》中，沙马兰起头应用完全分歧的电影理论，本片则成为了继《灵异第六感》以后的进化之作，比如学士与硕士，虽然更进一步，却连结着沙马兰作品所独有的纠葛、悬念和感情。建造人巴里·门德尔(Barry Mendel)说：“我以为《不死劫》的野心更强，由于《灵异第六感》更多依靠于鬼故事，而《不死劫》的想法例更新奇，叙事更成熟，而且停止了一些新尝试。大大都电影都各有所长，比如胜在行动、悬念大概情节等等，但很少有剧本能兼顾一切方面，《不死劫》即是这类稀缺佳作中的一员。”
　　别的，《不死劫》的前期运作顺遂得使人惊奇，从约请两位主演和提请制片商到终极签约和核准拍摄只用了3天多的时候。由于沙马兰希望影片能在11月上映，所以招募幕后班底迫在眉睫，《灵异第六感》的很多原班人马都顺遂归队，其中包括履行制片人加里·巴伯(Gary Barber)和罗杰·伯恩鲍姆(Roger Birnbaum)、建造设想师拉里·富尔顿(Larry Fulton)和打扮设想师乔安娜·约翰斯顿(Joanna Johnston)等等。
　　【关于主题】
　　《灵异第六感》并不是一部纯真的可骇片，《不死劫》也一样，绝不但仅是一部惊悚片。沙马兰说：“从概况上，这是一部具有着由黑暗而可骇的科幻元素组成一系列悬念的惊悚片，但故事中的逼真人物和我们一样正履历着逼真的题目和感情。一小我若何与妻子相同？若何维系夫妻豪情？怎样作一个好父亲？怎样顺应他人的期待？你发现你的潜能了吗？如此各种，全都融入了影片故事。”
　　影片仆人公大卫·邓恩是一个对自己的生活发生不安的人物，他很苍茫，不晓得自己存在的意义。他感应缺失和不妥，对丈夫和父亲的身份感应不适，球场保安的工作也让他闷闷不乐。观众会以为他本应更有作为、更有追求。
　　“当你第一次看到大卫·邓恩时，他是完全失衡的，”沙马兰说，“当登上火车时，他对一切茫然不知。而当车祸发生时，他又重新起头听到曩昔已经被他轻忽的声音。”《不死劫》的灵感源自沙马兰在17岁时对自己命运的疑问。沙马兰身世医学世家，包括怙恃在内，沙马兰家一共培育出12个医生。沙马兰曾就读医学专业，并曾赢很多项奖学金，在外人看来，他势必会成为一位鹤立鸡群的医生。但是，沙马兰从小酷好电影，10岁时便用家庭摄影机拍摄了第一部短片，他的理想是成为一位电影人。他回忆说：“在涉身影坛之前，我天天醒来时城市感应一丝忧伤，我不想平生都这样。所以，我必须晓得自己想做的事，去做自己应当做的事。虽然现在仍然会有那种忧伤之感，但我很安静，由于我已经自得其所。这就是我在《不死劫》中希望表达的主题，你应当发觉自己的命运，问问自己该做些什么。”

　　在本片中，沙马兰决议依照故事成长的时候顺序停止联贯拍摄，从而死力营建出真本色感。建造人巴里·门德尔说：“采用联贯拍摄是很罕有的，由于必须先处理拍摄场地和演员的时候档期。但奈特以为这类方式很是重要，由于他想让演员能随着情节成长设身处地的体味到人物的感情之旅和现实感受。虽然后勤部分面临着艰难应战，但这无疑会有助于提升全部演员的表演。”
