　　马修（瑞安·雷诺兹 Ryan Reynolds 饰）和蒂娜（米瑞·伊诺丝 Mireille Enos 饰）是一对成婚多年的夫妻，两人配合哺育了一个心爱的女儿卡桑德拉（佩顿·甘乃迪 Peyton Kennedy 饰），一家三口生活在幸运和完竣当中。某天，马修开着载着卡桑德拉回家，这本是普通无奇的一天，却成为了马修一家人永久的噩梦。马修将卡桑德拉留在车里自己去买晚饭，当他返回车内时发现，卡桑德拉不见了踪影。
　　卡桑德拉失落了，马修的家庭和婚姻也走到了接近破裂的边沿。蒂娜一向没法谅解马修的疏忽大意，马修亦日日生活在自责当中没法自拔。一晃眼多年曩昔，当已经的伤痛渐渐被时候袒护之时，一张卡桑德拉的照片出现在了收集上。
